7 AC Maintenance Tips to Survive Kamareddy Summers

Placeholder — replace with a photo of a technician cleaning an AC filter.

Every year, as temperatures in Kamareddy climb through April and May, our phones start ringing with the same complaint: "My AC isn't cooling like it used to." Most of these calls end the same way — a technician arrives, finds a clogged filter or low gas level, and has the unit running properly again within the hour. The frustrating part is that many of these breakdowns are entirely preventable with a little maintenance before the heat sets in.

Here are seven habits that genuinely make a difference, based on what our technicians see most often on service calls across Kamareddy, Machareddy, Ramayanpet and Domakonda.

1. Clean or Replace the Air Filter Monthly During Peak Season

A dirty filter is, by far, the single biggest cause of weak cooling and high electricity bills. When dust builds up on the filter, air can't move freely across the cooling coil, so the unit works harder and cools less. During March to June, pull out the filter every 3-4 weeks, rinse it with water, let it dry fully, and slide it back in. It takes five minutes and costs nothing.

2. Keep the Outdoor Unit Clear

The outdoor condenser needs open airflow to release the heat it's pulling out of your room. If it's boxed in by furniture, a tarpaulin cover, or built-up leaves and dust, the whole system loses efficiency and runs hotter than it should. Leave at least a foot and a half of clearance on all sides where possible, and hose down the outdoor coil fins occasionally to clear dust.

3. Don't Ignore Water Leakage

A little condensation is normal, but water dripping steadily from an indoor unit usually means the drain pipe is blocked with algae or dust, or the unit isn't level. Left unaddressed, it can damage your wall or ceiling. A technician can usually clear a blocked drain line in a single short visit.

4. Get a Professional Gas Level Check Before Summer

Refrigerant gas doesn't get "used up" in a healthy, sealed system — but small leaks at joints and valves do happen over time, especially in older units. If your AC cools well for the first ten minutes and then struggles, or you notice ice forming on the indoor coil, low gas is a common cause. It's worth having levels checked before the season's first heatwave rather than during it, when technicians are booked solid.

5. Set a Sensible Temperature Instead of the Coldest Setting

Running your AC at 18°C doesn't cool the room faster — it just makes the compressor run longer and harder to reach a temperature you probably won't stay comfortable at anyway. Most households find 24-26°C comfortable, and it noticeably reduces both electricity bills and long-term wear on the compressor.

6. Listen for New Noises

A healthy AC has a fairly consistent hum. Rattling, grinding, or a new buzzing sound usually signals a loose part, a failing fan motor, or a component about to fail — and catching it early is almost always cheaper than waiting for a full breakdown mid-summer.

7. Book an Annual General Service, Not Just Repairs

Many households only call a technician when something breaks. A once-a-year general service — filter cleaning, coil cleaning, drain check, gas level check and electrical connection check — catches small issues before they become expensive ones, and typically keeps the unit running more efficiently all season. Our AC General Service is priced at ₹599 and takes under an hour for most split and window units.

Need Your AC Looked At?

If any of these signs sound familiar, our technicians offer same-day AC repair, gas refilling and servicing across Kamareddy and nearby areas — with a free inspection before any work begins.

Small habits go a long way toward avoiding a mid-summer breakdown, but some issues — a slow refrigerant leak, a failing compressor, or wiring faults — need a trained eye. If in doubt, a quick call costs nothing and can save you a much bigger repair bill later.
